Description
Directions for Use:
Gloves, Goggles and Protective clothing must be worn while using Crystal Clear 550.
- Wash each window using conventional methods.
- Inspect each pane for potential need for clearing.
- Have building owner/manager review your inspection and sign a clearing authorization form.
- Clear only those windows requiring clearing.
- Test an area that appears stained.
- Apply just enough to moisten a clean cloth, sponge, or strip washer and apply to glass as if you were washing.
- Rinse well.
- Squeegee well and re-inspect glass.
- Do not use in direct sunlight!
If stain remains or appears worse, STOP. There may be Stage II corrosion or coating present. Confer with building owner/manager before continuing with the clearings. If the window appears clear after drying, continue with the whole pane.
Glass with Stage I Stains can usually be restored.
Option one: Do nothing and eventually have to replace the glass.
Option two: Manually polish the glass. Pros: Most of the surface damage can be polished away. Cons: Very labor intensive, may be even more expensive than replacing the glass.
Option three: Clear the glass with CRYSTAL CLEAR. Pros: Eliminates most all water spots, haze and clouding that damage optical clarity and requires no new equipment or special training. This type of restoration is fast, easy and very profitable. Cons: Local glass glaziers will be unhappy when they lose the sale of the glass replacement.

Simplicity
Bought this out of a necessity to minimize labor efforts on a heavy mineral build-up. Followed directions to a T, and it performed great.
Excellent product
This is an excellent product for removing hard water stains. Follow instructions and all is well.
Fast and easy
If you haven't tried CC550, don't wait any longer! I use a separate smaller bucket and a 6" strip washer. I wear Nitrile gloves (cheap protection) and pour just a little bit of the CC550 into the bottom of the bucket and then dip the wand into that and apply to the glass. Apply it like you are going to wash the window but keep rubbing the glass with the wet CC550 wand until you feel that it is getting easier and easier to glide the wand over the glass. If necessary, while still wet I then clean the glass with fine steel wool. My preference is to only work on a portion of glass - in the shade and out of direct sunlight - and not let the CC550 dry on the pane of glass. Note, this is a very strong chemical! If you use steel wool you will notice that it will rust quickly. On the 6" washer wand, use a plastic one - I cut down an unger wand base to fit a 6" wand cover. I had an aluminum or steel one that I had used previously without rinsing after use and the remaining CC550 literally disintegrated the metal part of the wand. Also, if the glass is beyond recovery, it can leave the glass looking worse to the point where the client will almost certainly need to replace the glass - so make sure to explain that before starting, and get a signed damage release waver before even doing a test spot. If CC550 doesn't get the window completely clean, I then use Pulex Rub Off with an orbital sander and a Bonnet. You can read what I use under my review of Rub Off.
works!
This stuff is great and easy to use! A little lower in cost would be great
Great product, But beware
Maybe I'm a little thick headed, but I read the directions at least 5 or 6 times before I bought and before I used, just trying to get a good idea of use. Well the directions do say only use enough to moisten a cloth or strip washer, it should say DON'T LET IT RUN or DON'T USE IN EXCESS. But it ran and burnt the glass ever so slightly all the way down as far as the drips ran. Thankfully it is barely noticeable inches away and it is on highrise in front of a large open room where noone would ever be close enough to see.
This stuff is fantastic
Crystal Clear 550 is fantastic for removing heavy water spot build up. I have tried many other products, from "as seen on tv" to chemical to over the counter, etc. I have been a window cleaner for 8 years, and have settled on this, and two others. Sometimes, this won't touch the spots, depending on the water, glass, sun pattern, etc.; but sometimes it's the only thing that will. Fantastic stuff.
indispensable if you have hard water
It works not only for windows. Before we started using Winsol, it was nearly impossible to clean our shower and bathtub as we have very hard, acidic water. Winsol dissolves any sediments right away.
Great for hard water stains
This is the best product I have found for getting hard water stains off of glass with out a mess. It works fast and goes along way. You will need an acid spray bottle as with other bottles they will not last. You will also need a white scrubing bad with a handel on it. spray it on the glass and scrub than wash off that easy. Great product.
