Description

Petzl ASAP and Petzl ASAP Lock Descriptive Video

The FUSE fall arrester by EDELRID is the only securing device in the market for a payload of up to 140 kg that meets all applicable standards in Europe and North America. From the first meter it moves along the rope with unprecedented ease. This is achieved by a new, sophisticated attachment at the lever arm. The separation of the blocking mechanism and its speed-dependent activator improves the reliability and safety of the device. The device reduces wear and prevents tearing of the rope, and ensures the blocking can be released without completely relieving the load. This is achieved by waiving at a toothing of the clamping cam. If needed, clamping can be activated by means of a practical lock function. FUSE can be attached to and removed from the rope without separating it from the carabiner.

  1. Integrated RFID chip for simplified operational documentation.
  2. Easy attachment and detachment from the rope without separation from the carabiner.
  3. For a payload of up to 140 kg – approved for horizontal applications

Advantages over ASAP

After demoing the Fuse with Defuser lanyard for a day of window cleaning I thought this was a good alternative to the ASAP Lock. It feels more solid than the ASAP, and it has a lock function without the price of the ASAP Lock. I also found the lock feature easier to disengage if it accidentally becomes activated and you rappel below the device, the ASAP Lock is harder and I accidentally engage the lock feature more frequently than with the Fuse. It also says connected to the lanyard while inserting the rope unlike a standard (non locking) ASAP
