Petzl created the Petzl ASAP Lock Fall Arrester Back Up Device as a rope grab for window cleaning and other rope access situations. For normal use, this petzl rope grab moves freely along the rope without any manual intervention and accompanies the user in all her or his movements. This is one of the smoothest self-trailing rope grab on the market! In case of shock or sudden acceleration, the ASAP Lock uses centrifugal force to activate internal weights to stop the rotation. The connection arm on this rope grab provides a semi-permanent attachment to the lanyard, making it drop proof when taking it on and off the rope. Unlike the regular ASAP, the ASAP Lock has two modes. It can go in self trailing mode, allowing it to freely folow the user, or it can go in up only mode with the flip of a switch. This is useful in windy situations where rope gets pulled through the device creating potentially dangerous fall factors. Most cleaners prefer the regular ASAP for its simplicity but the ASAP lock is perfect in specialty applications.
