The Ultimate Cleaning Tool
A JBF 5" scraper is one of the most important tools in a window
cleaner's tool belt. It easily removes paint, tape, stickers and
construction debris like stucco or caulk.
Carbon or Stainless Steel?
A good blade is a precision made, ultra-sharp and very thin
piece of metal. The blades are commonly available in
stainless steel or carbon steel. Carbon steel is preferred for
heavy usuage because it's thicker and slightly
stronger.
Carbon steel blades are mostly good for one day's usage
because the blades rust quickly.
Stainless Steel blades are more flexible and far more resistant
to rust, but are not quite as sharp.
So we recommend stainless steel blades if you only scrape
ocassionally.
How to Scrape?
- Only scrape on wet glass.
- Adding lubricant soap helps even more
- Only push a scraper. Never pull it back.
- Apply even pressure holding the blade flat against the
glass.
- Approach edges slowly to avoid cutting caulk or damaging
frames.
- Never scrape windows with film tint applied unless your
purpose is to remove that film. The scraper will cut it and even
lift it off the glass.
A JBF scraper is a must when windows need a heavier cleaning
than soap, water and a washer sleeve can provide.
